About

Navigating Dying is an end-of-life doula organization dedicated to helping guide fellow human beings through the journey of death with intention.

Dying with intention allows people the opportunity to examine their values, wishes, and alternatives, and helps them make decisions on how to spend the time they have left. I can help guide you and your loved ones through the complex options and choices around dying. Death is a life stage to be honored and as your trained and attentive guide and companion, I bring a trustworthy, curious, open-minded, warm, and empathic presence to the process.

Alison is a White woman with short grey hair and glasses. She faces the camera and smiles. She is wearing earrings and a blue patterned top. Behind her is green and red foliage.

Our Founder

Living in a compromised body, I learned how to navigate medical systems, terminology, and information. After spending twenty years as a college professor, health issues forced me to retire prematurely. I have always been comfortable around illness, hospitals, and dying. Serving in the capacity of an end-of-life doula for my father during his last years showed me a way I can bring those skills to help others grappling with all the emotions and decisions at the end of life.

So accompanied by a wealth of personal experience and training, I dedicated myself to helping others navigate death with intention. Today, I work with clients to prepare for death and create lasting legacies in a variety of forms, including ethical wills, videos, annotated photo collages, life review and more. We are limited only by our joint imagination.
